My name is Josh. I haven’t written anything formal (besides my evaluations reports, field visits, and inspection reports) for a very, very long time. So, I will do my best to be informal, about once a month!
My plans currently entail discussing photos of construction and the potential problems and downright mistakes that can be seen. It is not meant to demean any of the identified construction, but only to bring awareness. With knowledge comes power!
On another note, I’ve built this site old school. So, if you see any problems, broken links, broken pictures, etc., please let me know. The site consists of static pages that I post, so we’ll see how long that lasts. You won’t currently find any fancy tracking, cookies, etc., except through some of the comments/forms and the one pop up ad advertising the Top 10 ADA Violations we see daily. That will be put together shortly and is intended as another form of education. If you see something in your town that looks similar, it might be a violation of building code. It is important to note, it may not be a violation, usually determined by the time frame it was built and of course the enforcing jurisdiction. Building codes are complicated and go from black and white, to very gray, very fast.
My knowledge is based on the California Building Code, also known as Title 24 here in California. I have spent time inspecting in Oregon as well, and look forward to seeing more. I was born and raised in Cali and currently live in Valencia with my wonderful wife and 4 amazing kids. 2 boys and 2 girls…how much luckier could I get? Oh, and the California mention was for the flag at the bottom of each page. Yes, it’s the US flag, but with 31 stars. This flag was flown for 7 years, July 4, 1851 – July 3, 1858.
Please feel free to leave any comments below. Oh…I know the share article button doesn’t work. That I have to fix or repair daily, like a Ford. Just kidding Chris!
